Description of Practice:
David is a senior partner with Voss, Cook & Thel LLP and has been a member of the firm since 1981.  He is individually rated “av” (the highest possible rating) by the nationally-recognized Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.  He has extensive experience in all facets of the acquisition, disposition, entitlement, development, construction management, leasing, operation, and financing of real property including, retail, office, industrial, residential and senior housing.  He has been actively involved in the government entitlement and subdivision process and has lectured for the Orange County Section of the American Planning Association.  He has represented owners and developers in numerous transactions with Redevelopment Agencies in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.  He represents residential land developers as well as several home builders.  In the senior housing area, he has been extensively involved in the acquisition and development of assisted living facilities throughout California.  In addition to documenting construction and permanent loans, David has represented lenders and borrowers in workouts, deeds-in-lieu and foreclosures.
 
He is a member of the Real Estate Law Section of the California Bar Association, as well as a member of the Orange County Bar Association.  He has been actively involved in a number of trade organization including the Associated General Contractors (Legal Advisory Committee) and Community Association Institute.  He has also been actively involved in civic, political and community organizations.  He has served on the Board of Directors of a Christian School and a local Church Board.
 
David is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach (B.A., Magna Cum Laude, 1976) and of McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific (J.D., with Distinction [top 5%], 1979).
